A Day in the Life of a Grant Writer

True Voice Foundation is seeking a volunteer grant writer to help in funding our various programs. You will be vital to the growth of True Voice and the programs we advance.


  • Writing grant proposals and submitting
  • Keep a well organized portfolio of grant proposals
  • Work with program managers to identify needs of each program
  • Look for opportunities to convert volunteers into donors
  • Perform research into grant making organizations
  • Writes applications that display meticulous grammar and spelling
  • Adhere to guidelines given by the organizer or project leader
  • Analyze the feasibility of the project’s budget
  • The grant writer must have complete understanding of the program
  • Once the proposal has been submitted, maintain contact with Grantor to check progress


  • Ability to work well under minimal supervision
  • Must have good administrative skills and be detailed oriented
  • Good communication skills
  • Can work with wide range of people
  • Can express themselves easily
  • Able to coordinate directly and supervise others
  • Should be able to persuade or influence others
  • Must understand about the operations of the foundations, organizations and businesses
  • Able to meet deadlines for grant writing projects
